SIMEON Sim.CARRY is a family of modular ceiling supply units for operating theatres, intensive care and anaesthesia workplaces, made by the German company SIMEON Medical. It offers a rigid column, versions with one or two extension arms and versions with a motorised arm. This overview explains the models, the supply consoles and how Sim.CARRY pairs with SIMEON's lights and suspension arms.
About SIMEON and Sim.CARRY
SIMEON Medical (S.I.M.E.O.N. Medical GmbH & Co. KG) was founded in 2000 in Tuttlingen, Germany, and supplies surgical and examination lights, ceiling supply units and matching accessories. After years of OEM development it launched its own HighLine surgical light in 2009, followed by Sim.FLEX suspension arms, the BusinessLine series, a 4K medical camera, Sim.CARRY ceiling supply units and the wireless Sim.CAM cameras.
All products are manufactured in Germany, and the company is represented through sales and service partners in more than 90 countries. Sim.CARRY supports all common international standards and offers adapters for common anaesthesia machines. Its hygiene-optimised design is easy to clean, install and maintain.
For buyers, a manufacturer that combines lights, suspension arms, cameras and supply units can simplify the paperwork and the coordination, because drawings and loads for the whole ceiling can come from one source.
Models: 50, 100, 200, 150 and 250
Sim.CARRY comes as the Sim.CARRY 50 rigid column, the 100 and 200 with one or two extension arms, and the 150 and 250 with a motorised arm. Extension arm lengths are 450, 600, 800 or 1,000 mm, and the motor arm length is 800 mm.
The choice follows the same logic as other pendants. A rigid column suits a fixed head position; extension arms let the console swing across a work area; a motorised arm adds height adjustment for flexible rooms and for users of different heights. For a deeper comparison see rigid and height-adjustable pendants.
Think about the room's future too. A rigid column is the simplest to install and maintain, while a motorised arm adds a drive and a control system that need service. Decide whether the added ergonomics are worth the added maintenance in your department.
- Sim.CARRY 50: rigid column
- Sim.CARRY 100 and 200: one or two extension arms
- Sim.CARRY 150 and 250: motorised arm
- Extension arm lengths 450, 600, 800, 1,000 mm; motor arm 800 mm
Supply consoles and the Z console with lift
Supply consoles L06, L10, L12 and L15 and the horizontal A console fit all models. They carry the gas outlets, sockets and accessories required at the workplace. On selected versions, the Z console with lift is available for anaesthesia machines or endoscopy trolleys.
This makes Sim.CARRY useful both as an anaesthesia unit and as a platform for an endoscopy tower; see our comparison of pendant and cart for endoscopy. For the split of duties between head-end and surgical units, read surgical and anaesthesia pendants.
Adapters for common anaesthesia machines matter in practice. Ask your anaesthetists which machine is used, confirm with the supplier that a suitable adapter exists and check the weight of the machine and accessories against the console's rating.
Pairing with SIMEON lights and suspension arms
Because SIMEON supplies lights and suspension systems as well, a room can combine Sim.CARRY with surgical lights and with Sim.FLEX suspension arms for monitors. Sim.FLEX takes up to four arms per central axis, can be extended after installation and offers arms up to 2,000 mm, which suits hybrid rooms. Coordinating products from one maker simplifies ceiling planning and documentation.
Even so, check the combined ceiling load, the swing paths of every arm and the interaction with ventilation; see ceiling and airflow planning. Obtain the manufacturer's drawings and loads for your exact combination.
Specifying Sim.CARRY
Define the model, arm lengths, consoles, outlets and anaesthesia machine adapters needed. State the gas standard and electrical requirements, and ask for the declaration of conformity and installation drawings. Check the ceiling structure and first-fix with the main contractor.
