Buyers who search for Aesculap sterilization containers are usually asking a wider question: which rigid container system fits our sets, sterilizers and budget? Genesis, Medline, Steriset, V. Mueller, Integra and REDA are among the names hospitals compare. This guide does not rank brands or quote competitors' data. It gives you criteria to compare any container system fairly, and lists the facts about REDA containers from the manufacturer's catalogue.
Compare systems on criteria, not on brand names
Rigid container systems from established manufacturers all do the same basic job: hold an instrument set, let steam in, keep microorganisms out afterwards and protect the contents during handling. They differ in details: filter or valve design, closing mechanism, material, accessory range, available sizes and the evidence supporting their use in your sterilizer.
Ask each supplier for the same written information and compare answers in a table. Do not rely on a summary of another company's product from a third party; request that manufacturer's current documentation. The wider selection process is explained in the sterilization container systems guide.
Filters and valves
The barrier mechanism is the heart of any container. Some systems use disposable paper filters, some permanent textile or PTFE filters, some a valve. Ask how often filters must be replaced, how the filter is retained, how a missing or damaged filter is detected and what consumable costs follow over a year.
For REDA, the catalogue describes disposable paper, permanent textile and Teflon filters, and Bio-Barrier models with valves that the vacuum opens during the sterilization cycle and that close once the pressure is equalised (REDA sterilization containers). More on this in filters and seals.
Sizes, footprints and accessories
Check that footprints match your sterilizer shelves, washer racks and storage. REDA lists full (580 x 280 mm), three-quarter (465 x 280 mm) and half-size (285 x 280 mm) containers in various heights, along with flat half-size, mini, dental, extra-large and optic or implant containers, and endoscope storage baskets. Other manufacturers publish their own dimensions; request them in writing.
Accessories matter as much as the container: wire baskets, silicone holders, indicator labels, colour coding, Auto Lock mechanisms and dividers. If you already own baskets or inserts from another system, find out whether they can be used. In most cases they cannot be mixed safely without checking fit and validation; see instrument tray sizes.
Validation, weight, handling and ownership cost
Ask for the validation basis for your sterilizer type and cycles, including drying performance for heavy loads, and whether the container is suitable for low-temperature methods. REDA's Plasma model is described as suitable for both steam and low-temperature plasma sterilization.
Compare loaded weight, handle design, stacking, lock reliability and how easily the lid, seals and baskets can be inspected and replaced. Total cost of ownership includes purchase price, filters, spare parts, training and service, and compares to the cost per cycle of disposable wrap, as covered in rigid containers versus wrap. We do not quote prices here; ask for written quotations for the same configuration from each supplier.
Questions to put to every supplier
If you want a comparison tailored to your set list and sterilizers, Beckfinity can provide REDA container information and discuss your requirements; see the REDA brand page and request a consultation.
- Which sterilizer types and cycles is the container validated for?
- How is sterile-barrier integrity shown to the user (seal, lock, indicator)?
- What is the filter or valve concept, and what are the replacement intervals?
- What sizes, heights and accessories exist, and are spare parts held locally?
- What cleaning, inspection and servicing instructions are provided?
- Who provides training, and how is warranty handled in the UAE?
Frequently asked questions
Which sterilization container brand is best?
There is no universal best. The right system is the one validated for your sterilizers, fitted to your sets and supported locally; compare on written evidence and total cost.
Are containers from different manufacturers interchangeable?
Generally not. Lids, baskets and filters are designed as a system and should be mixed only after checking dimensions and validation.
Do REDA containers use filters or valves?
The catalogue lists paper, textile and Teflon filters, plus Bio-Barrier models with vacuum-operated valves.
Can REDA containers be used in plasma sterilization?
REDA describes its Plasma model as designed for both steam and low-temperature plasma sterilization.
