C-Arm Machine Price Guide: How Much Does a C-Arm Cost?

Updated 14 October 2026 · 4 min read

The c arm machine price depends far more on configuration than on the brand name on the cover. A basic image-intensifier unit and a high-power vascular flat-panel system are different investments, and a quotation only makes sense once you know which one you need. This article lists the factors that move the cost of a mobile C-arm and the questions to put to any supplier in the UAE.

Why there is no single C-arm cost

Suppliers rarely publish a fixed list price because the final figure is built from options: detector type and size, generator power, software packages, monitor, accessories, installation and service. Two machines with the same name can differ by a large margin once options are added. That is why this article gives no figures and concentrates on what changes a quotation.

Treat any number quoted without a written specification with caution. Ask for a line-by-line configuration so that offers from different companies can be compared like for like.

Image intensifier or flat panel: how the detector affects price

The detector is usually the largest single driver. Image-intensifier systems, such as the PLX C1112 with its megapixel camera, sit at the entry end of the range. Flat-panel systems cost more at purchase but remove the intensifier distortion and give a wider dynamic range. The PLX C22 offers 9 or 12 inch flat panels in SCI or IGZO versions, and the Arcovis DRF uses 21 × 21 or 30 × 30 cm detectors.

Within flat panels, size and technology matter too: a larger field of view and an IGZO panel are premium options. Read image intensifier vs flat panel for the technical trade-offs before you decide where to spend.

Mini versus full-size C-arm

Mini C-arms for hand, foot and wrist work are smaller, lighter and have lower generator power, so they cost less than full-size units. They suit day-surgery centres and orthopaedic clinics. Full-size mobile systems serve general orthopaedics, trauma and urology, and vascular-capable models sit at the top. Our comparison of mini and full-size C-arms helps match the class to your case mix.

Buying a bigger system than the work requires is a common way to overspend; buying too small forces a replacement within a few years.

Options that change the quotation

Generator power and tube heat capacity decide whether long fluoroscopy runs are possible without waiting for the tube to cool. Software options such as DSA and roadmap, metal artefact suppression, long-bone stitching or 3D are priced separately. Connectivity (DICOM, PACS, wireless link), a high-resolution monitor, an installed laser localiser and a dose-area-product display also add to the total.

Check what is standard and what is optional on the exact model, for instance whether the PLX C22 configuration you are offered includes the touchscreen display and stitching software.

  • Detector type (intensifier, a-Si or IGZO flat panel) and size
  • Generator power and heat capacity
  • Software: DSA, roadmap, stitching, 3D
  • Monitor, DICOM and wireless options
  • Accessories, drapes, lead protection

Questions to ask before you compare offers

Ask each supplier for the same written scope: model and configuration code, detector size and type, generator power, software list, accessories and warranty terms. Then ask what is not included, because missing items such as the monitor cart upgrade, drapes, lead protection or a DICOM licence often appear later as variations.

Also ask who performs installation, how long operator training lasts, what response time applies to service calls in your emirate and whether a loan unit is available during repair. These service terms affect the real cost of downtime in a busy trauma theatre more than a small difference in the headline figure.

  • Is the warranty parts-only or parts and labour, and how long is it?
  • Which software options are included and which are licensed separately?
  • Where are spare parts stocked and what is the typical lead time?
  • Does the offer include acceptance testing and radiation survey support?

Total cost of ownership

Purchase cost is only part of the picture. Plan for installation and acceptance testing, operator training, scheduled maintenance, spare parts, tube replacement and software updates. A flat-panel system with a longer expected detector life can be cheaper over ten years than a lower-priced unit that needs earlier replacement of the intensifier chain.

Request a service plan in writing and ask where spare parts are stocked. Beckfinity's specialists can prepare a configured quotation and a maintenance proposal on request; use the contact page to describe your department and procedures.

Frequently asked questions

Is a flat-panel C-arm always more expensive?

At purchase, usually yes, because of the detector. Over the machine life the difference can narrow thanks to longer detector service life and lower dose per image.

How much does a mini C-arm cost compared with full-size?

A mini unit is generally the lower-cost class, but exact comparison needs written quotations for equal options. We do not publish list prices.

Does the price include installation and training?

Not always. Ask that installation, acceptance tests and operator training are itemised in the offer.

Can I buy a C-arm in stages?

Many software options can be added later, but the detector size and generator are fixed at purchase, so decide those carefully.
