ENT Supplies and Equipment for a Clinic: Treatment Unit, Microscope, Instruments and Suction

Updated 14 October 2026 · 4 min read

Planning ENT supplies and equipment is easier when you work from the examination room outward: the treatment unit first, then visualisation, instruments, voice and hearing diagnostics, and finally suction and consumables. This checklist is written for owners of new clinics and heads of hospital ENT departments in the UAE. It names what each item does and what to check before purchase.

The core: ENT treatment unit or workstation

The treatment unit is the base of ENT clinic equipment. It combines suction, medication spray, ear irrigation, instrument storage and light sources in one station. The ATMOS S 61 CORIAN, for example, is a modular workstation made of nonporous CORIAN with strict separation of clean and used instruments and handle-free drawers.

Decide size and modularity early. A smaller unit is enough for a single-doctor clinic, while a hospital outpatient department may want a furnished, expandable station. For background, see our guide to ENT clinic setup in the UAE.

Also allow for the room itself: floor space and door width for the workstation, power points, a sink for hand hygiene, storage for consumables and a clear path from the sterile store to the chair.

Visualisation: microscope and endoscopes

A microscope is needed for ear work, and endoscopes are used for the nose, sinuses and larynx. The ATMOS i View 21 / i View 31 microscope has an integrated LED light source in the head, so no external fibre-optic cable is required, and runs silently without active cooling. Published data include 120 klx illuminance at f = 200 mm, a colour temperature of 5000 K and a stereo base of 24 mm, with integration via GDT, DICOM and HL7.

Rigid and flexible endoscopes, light sources, cameras and a monitor complete the visualisation set. Choose a system whose camera and recording software work with each other and with your patient records.

ENT surgical instruments list: the hand instruments

ENT tools and instruments make up the largest line items by count. A basic ENT surgical instruments list covers nasal specula, forceps for nose and sinus, ear instruments, tonsil and adenoid instruments, laryngeal mirrors and laryngoscopes. The REDA ENT instruments range lists Hartmann, Killian and Cottle nasal specula, septum elevators, Blakesley and Weil-Blakesley forceps, mouth gags, tonsil knives, Beckmann adenoid curettes, micro-laryngeal instruments and McIntosh and Miller laryngoscopes.

Plan the number of sets according to your daily patients and the reprocessing cycle, so that instruments are always available while others are being sterilised.

Instrument quality varies by supplier, so ask for material and finish details, whether sets are sterilisable by your method and how warranty and replacement are handled.

  • Nasal specula, septum instruments and sinus forceps.
  • Ear instruments and suction tips.
  • Tonsil, adenoid and throat instruments.
  • Laryngeal mirrors and laryngoscope blades.

Voice, hearing and suction

For voice disorders, a stroboscope such as the ATMOS Strobo 21 LED adds slow-motion and freeze-image examination of the vocal folds, with a flash frequency of 70–1000 Hz, and can be integrated into the treatment unit or used on a tabletop. Hearing and balance diagnostics, such as tympanometry, can be part of an ENT diagnostics package, depending on the configuration.

Suction is needed at the chair and in the procedure room. An ENT workstation includes its own suction, and a separate portable or surgical unit is useful for minor procedures and emergencies. Do not forget consumables, spare canisters, filters and disinfectants. Many ENT medical device companies offer parts of this list; ordering the core from one distributor can simplify service.

Finally, add the support items that are easy to forget: an examination chair, head mirror or headlight, a monitor for patient education, waste containers and hygiene supplies.
