Why a powered Mayo stand matters

The Mayo stand holds the instruments in current use over the patient or beside the surgeon. Its height needs to change with the procedure and the team, and a manual stand with a crank or lock handle means the nurse must stop, release and adjust. A foot-operated Mayo stand removes that step and keeps hands on the instruments.

Height control with the foot

On the Lojer electric Mayo table, height is adjusted completely hands-free. One side of the foot control button lowers the worktop and the other raises it. The height range is 960 to 1260 mm.

Check the speed of movement and how the foot control is protected from fluids and accidental activation. Ask where the foot control sits when the stand is moved.

Worktop sizes and rotation

The stand is offered with two worktop sizes, 700 by 500 mm and 640 by 400 mm. The worktop can be rotated horizontally by 45, 90 and 180 degrees in both directions, which lets the nurse swing the tray over the patient or aside without moving the base.

Choose the size by the typical instrument load: larger trays suit orthopaedic and spine sets, smaller ones suit minor procedures and tight rooms.

Load capacity and mobility

Lifting capacity is 50 kg with the worktop at 0 degrees and 30 kg in other positions. Load limits depend on the position, so brief staff that a heavy set should be placed with the worktop in the straight position.

The stand runs on three antistatic castors for safe movement around the operating room, and is locked in place by the brakes in the wheels. Include castors and brakes in routine inspection.
