SIMEON Sim.LED 250 examination light for small clinics and outpatient rooms

Updated 14 October 2026 · 3 min read

The SIMEON Sim.LED 250 is a compact examination light with eight powerful LEDs and an integrated dimming function. Its minimalist design and low weight make it easy to move and position for examinations in clinics and outpatient settings. This overview is for small clinic buyers who need a simple, efficient light for consulting rooms.

What the Sim.LED 250 is

The 250 is the lightest and simplest light in the SIMEON examination range. It carries eight high-output LEDs and an integrated dimming function. The data sheet lists a central illuminance of 25,000 lx at 1 m and 95,000 lx at 0.5 m, a light field d10 of 217 mm at 1 m, Ra 96, a head power consumption of 15 W and LED service life above 25,000 hours.

The high figure at 0.5 m reflects the fact that examination lights are often used at close range, with the head of the light near the work area. When you compare lights, check the distance at which the lux value is quoted, because 95,000 lx at 0.5 m and 25,000 lx at 1 m describe the same light.

Who needs a light like this

Small clinics, general practice rooms, paediatrics, dermatology consultations and outpatient examination rooms often need a simple light that is bright enough for inspection but not a high-end device. In these rooms a lightweight light is easy to use many times a day and costs little in energy: 15 W is modest.

For rooms with demanding work, such as ENT or minor procedures, a stronger light may be better, see the Sim.LED 3500+ or the Sim.LED 4500.

Mounting options

SIMEON offers the 250 as a ceiling, wall or mobile version, or mounted on a ceiling supply unit. The supply unit option is attractive in treatment rooms where gases, power and data are already on a ceiling column, and it allows the light to be integrated with other equipment, see SIMEON Sim.CARRY.

  • Ceiling or wall: dedicated consulting rooms with a fixed couch.
  • Mobile: shared use, see SIMEON mobile lights.
  • Ceiling supply unit: treatment rooms with medical supply columns.

Light quality and limits

With Ra 96, the 250 is good for judging skin and mucosa colour. Its lower central illuminance at 1 m, compared with the 350 or the 3000, means the doctor will want to work at a closer distance. This is normal for a basic examination light, but it should be tested in the room.

The LED service life of more than 25,000 hours is shorter than the figures for larger SIMEON lights. For a light used some hours a day this is still many years, but do the arithmetic for your clinic and compare it with your replacement plan.

Hygiene and handling

A minimalist body is easier to wipe down, and low weight reduces effort when the staff move a mobile version. As always, agree the cleaning agent with infection control, and check that the handle can be wiped quickly between patients. Keep the light parked in the same place after use so that it does not obstruct the couch.

Room checks and ordering

Before ordering, measure the room and decide the mounting. Check the structure for wall or ceiling load and the power supply close to the light. Compare the Sim.LED 250 with the Sim.LED 350 for rooms that need a higher level, and read the examination light guide.
