SIMEON Sim.LED 5000 HighLine: multicolour or single-colour for premium ORs

Updated 14 October 2026 · 3 min read

The SIMEON Sim.LED 5000 is a premium surgical light from the HighLine range, built for operating rooms that need homogeneous, shadow-free light with constant colour rendering. This overview explains its triangle reflector design, the choice between multicolour and single-colour versions, the controls and what to check before you buy.

Reflector design and light quality

The Sim.LED 5000 uses SIMEON's patented reflector technology with RSRS, the Reflector Shadow Resolution System, to produce a homogeneous light field with good illumination of deep cavities. The reflectors are arranged in the SIMEON triangle design, which spreads light from many directions so that individual shadows from heads and hands are softened.

The data sheet lists a central illuminance of 160,000 lx at 1 m, a dimming range of 48,000 to 160,000 lx, light field d10 of 180 to 280 mm, Ra 96 and LED service life above 60,000 hours. For the meaning of each value see surgical light specifications explained.

Multicolour or single-colour

The multicolour (MC) version lets the user choose from 3,500, 4,000, 4,500, 5,000 and 5,500 K, and the single-colour (SC) version is fixed at 4,500 K. With sun.LED technology, colour rendering stays constant whatever colour temperature is selected, which is the key advantage of the MC version.

Choose MC for a shared theatre with several surgeons, and SC if a room serves one team whose preference is settled. SC is simpler to operate and can be easier to justify in a tight budget, but you give up the choice. More on the topic is in colour temperature and CRI.

Controls and hygiene

The Sim.LED 5000 is controlled via the cardanic handle or a wall panel, with the my.GRIP sterile handle and my.LED presets that save the settings of different users. The body is seamlessly closed, made on an aluminium base, with Anti.BAC coating and scratch-resistant safety glass, which makes disinfection straightforward and supports laminar airflow.

Check with your infection control team which cleaning agents are approved for the coating and glass, and establish a routine for the handle between cases.

Cameras, monitors and suspension

Sim.CAM cameras and Sim.SCREEN monitor holders can be added. Sim.CAM can be integrated into the light head or mounted on a separate arm and moved between lights without tools, and Sim.SCREEN carries monitors up to 32 inches. The suspension is Sim.FLEX, which takes up to four arms per axis. For video planning see surgical lights with a camera.

  • Plan one light per major working direction, two domes for most general theatres.
  • Confirm ceiling height, load capacity and the position of laminar airflow panels.
  • Decide on camera and monitor needs before the suspension is ordered.

How it compares within SIMEON

The 5000 shares the core technology of the BusinessLine range, with Ra 96 and the same illuminance. Compared with the HighLine Sim.LED 8000, it does not list the active sensor shadow management or the Sim.BIANCE endoscopy light, so it fits when you want premium build and colour control without those features. The Sim.LED 5000 product page has the full range of options.

Do not choose by the model number alone. Look at the room, the cases and the budget, and ask for a demonstration with your own surgeons.
