The TCM 3000 BL morcellator control unit

TCM 3000 BL Morcellator is a control unit for laparoscopic tissue morcellation from NOUVAG AG of Switzerland. It is compact, measuring 120 x 180 x 110 mm and weighing 1.8 kg, with power consumption of 60 VA. A robust build is intended for long-term reliability in routine gynaecological use.

The motor coupling is INTRA (ISO 3964). Operation is by a finely responsive foot switch rated IPX8, which allows the surgeon to control speed precisely while keeping hands on the instruments.

Speed, programs and torque

The speed range is 50 to 1,000 rpm. In VARIO mode the surgeon can set the speed freely and steplessly; alternatively one of three predefined program buttons selects a fixed speed range. Many users choose preset programs for consistency across cases and staff.

What is in the NOUVAG Morcellation Set

The Morcellation Set combines a basic set with a handle set. The basic set contains the TCM 3000 BL Morcellator control unit, a foot pedal, Electronic Motor 21 and a spray-tube attachment. The handle set includes a gear unit, handle, cutting tube, an optional protection tube or trocar sleeve and an obturator.

Morcellators are available in 12 mm and 15 mm diameters, so the instrument can be matched to the case in laparoscopic hysterectomy and myoma enucleation. How the system works in the theatre

The cutting tube is introduced through a port, the surgeon grasps the specimen and draws it into the rotating tube while the foot switch controls cutting. Strips of tissue are brought out through the lumen.
