The Arcovis DRF-C is Villa's compact, lightweight flat-panel surgical C-arm, designed for operating theatres, trauma and orthopaedics where space is limited but imaging quality still matters. This article explains the R21, R30 and S21 models, what the onboard monitor and foot pedal add, and how the DRF-C differs from the larger Arcovis DRF family.
What the Arcovis DRF-C is designed for
Arcovis DRF-C is the compact version of the Arcovis DRF C-arms, made for critical or space-constrained settings while keeping a high level of imaging. It targets operating theatres, trauma and orthopaedics, and suits small or crowded rooms, day-surgery units and satellite theatres.
Compactness matters in practice: a smaller footprint is easier to park, move through corridors and manoeuvre around a table surrounded by anaesthesia and surgical equipment. It is also easier to store between lists.
For a clinic with a single theatre, one compact unit that does not need a separate trolley can simplify daily routines. Check the doorways, lift sizes and storage bay in advance, and ask the supplier for the transport dimensions and weight in writing.
Models: R21, R30 and S21
The R21 and R30 models combine a 21 x 21 cm or 30 x 30 cm a-Si flat panel with a 5 kW generator and a rotating-anode tube. The S21 version uses a 4 kW generator and a stationary anode. A rotating anode generally tolerates longer or heavier exposures, while a stationary anode is a simpler option for lighter use.
Choose between 21 x 21 cm for extremities, hand, foot and general trauma, and 30 x 30 cm if you also image pelvis or spine and want a wider field per exposure. Confirm the exact specification of each model with the supplier.
Onboard monitor, modes and foot pedal
An onboard 27 inch monitor, with a 4K high-brightness option, and a 12.5 inch control display sit on the unit itself, so there is no separate trolley to position. This saves floor space and set-up time. Operating modes include High-Quality, Low Dose, Peak Opacification and Snapshot, plus RoadMap and DSA with the optional vascular package.
Six modes can be selected instantly from a multifunction foot pedal, which lets the surgeon change mode without leaving the sterile field. This ties directly to dose management; see our dose reduction guide for how to use low-dose and pulsed modes.
The dual laser localisers help centre the beam before any radiation is emitted, and NFC login speeds up user identification and protocol selection. Active cooling is intended to support long procedures, which is useful when a case turns out to be more complex than planned.
- Compact, lightweight gantry for space-constrained theatres
- 21 x 21 or 30 x 30 cm a-Si flat panel
- Onboard 27 inch monitor, optional 4K high-brightness
- Six fluoroscopy modes from a multifunction foot pedal
- Active cooling, NFC login, dual laser localisers, DICOM
Arcovis DRF-C versus Arcovis DRF
The Arcovis DRF family offers seven configurations with generators of 5, 20 or 25 kW, a 13 inch control panel, a separate viewing trolley and a 4K IGZO flagship. It suits demanding spine, vascular and neurosurgical work. The DRF-C trades some of that power range for a smaller, lighter unit with everything on one frame.
If your theatre mainly performs orthopaedic and trauma cases, the compact model may be sufficient. For heavier or vascular work compare it with the Arcovis DRF and read our article on flat-panel C-arms.
Buying considerations and price
Many buyers ask about the price of a C-arm, but cost depends on the model, panel size, options such as the vascular package and 4K monitor, installation, training and service, so it is best confirmed through a quotation. Our C-arm price guide lists the cost drivers to compare. Active cooling helps long procedures, but ask for the duty cycle in writing.
Beckfinity's specialists can quote the Arcovis DRF-C from Villa and arrange a demonstration in your theatre. Contact us for a consultation.
Ask what is included in the quoted configuration: monitor option, vascular package, DICOM functions and accessories such as covers and footswitch. Also confirm service coverage and training in the UAE before signing.
